Dublin – July 24th to 27th 2017
Dublin, oh Dublin you party animal city you!
We stayed in the city for 3 nights and we were booked into an Airbnb that I thought would be central and big enough. Yeah, it was central all right. Right smack in the middle of Temple Bar. The busy night life area. Our balcony was right over the busy street where a street performer liked to set up his bike routine. Sneaky guy probably made a killing. The steering on a bike was backwards and people paid money to have a go at riding the bike about 15 feet. No one did it. In fact, they all looked so funny. And we had front row seats to it nightly!!
The iconic Temple Bar was a stones throw from our place. Crowds flocked to this bar for it’s fun atmosphere inside and it’s gor-ge-ous exterior. We poked our heads in for a few minutes and the decor was so Irish (uh, go figure, right?!) and the music was awesome and the crowd was just so happy and lively.
Over the 3 days, we relaxed a bit and walked about the city. We saw Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Grafton Street, and much more.
Mark and I did a Guinness Tour. I am utterly and completely amazed at how they could make an entire warehouse tour based on 1 type of beer. But they did, and it was creative and a neat experience. We received a free Guinness at the end of the tour with our admission. I tried my very best to drink it, but not being a beer drinker (or really any other kind of drinker), I made a dent of about an inch in my glass. You Guinness lovers out there are probably cringing right now. Cringe a little more when I tell ya I tossed the rest of it, 🙂
We also did a city tour in style, VIKING style, in a big RUBBER DUCK bus/boat. The Viking Splash tour was recommended to us and we decided it would be fun. It was for sure. We had our viking hats on the open air bus and would sneak up behind unsuspecting people on the street and RAWR at them. All that fun and a city tour with loads of history and information. Part way through, the bus grew floats and we turned into a boat and went along the harbor.
Dublin was a fun city, with very friendly people (as with the rest of Ireland) and we even spotted a Leprechaun!!!
