Paris – August 12th 2017

Day one in Paris had to start with a visit to the Eiffel Tower. We already had our tickets (btw, buy them 3 months in advance and not a week before like we did, just saying $). We met our guide on a random street corner and followed her to the Tower. We skipped the big long ticket line which was great. Did our quick security checks with the bags and noticed more army guys around. This was a thing here in Paris and I started accepting that they are around and actually it’s a good thing!!

We spent a couple of hours at the Tower. First taking the elevator up to the second floor. All my peeps that have been there know its’ wayyyy higher than a traditional second floor. We had views for miles. Gorgeous city views from all directions. We got a family photo done thanks to the unsuspecting tourist I grabbed (you have to pick carefully when getting someone to take your photo, some people just don’t have a clue!).

Then it was time to head to the very top!… Oh but first there was a long line we needed to stand in. And it was windy that day, and no one had proper coats. But we made it all the way up the ear popping elevator ride. It was even more spectacular. We even spotted our building we were staying in.

The elevator ride down was fine minus all the pushy tourists. I guess when you are done, you are done and manners leave ya at this point. The elevator takes you back to the second floor and you either switch to another elevator or take the stairs. Leave it to Avery to be different and want to walk down the stairs. Mark went with her, while us sane remaining 3 took the elevator. We stopped on the first floor to check it out as we thought it was off limits on the way up. To our surprise there was a gift shop, restaurant and other things to do. As well as the glass floor. That was great for getting my motion sickness going (NOT).

We all met up downstairs directly under the tower and ended our day. It was fabulous and I’m so happy we were able to experience such an impressive and famous monument!—kids were like “whatever” but they will thank us later, right?!
