Brugge to Amsterdam – August 22nd 2017
We left Brugge after our quick 48 hours there and realized that we were actually super close to the beach. We drove through the little area and popped out in a seaside community and a lovely beach. We were already set for our drive to Amsterdam so I snapped a few photos and back on the road we went!
In Amsterdam we would be staying on a boat!!!! Perhaps we waited too long to book accommodation or perhaps it’s just always expensive in Amsterdam, but we found a boat in a Marina just out the city. It was roughly in our price range and we thought it would be a super neat experience, When In Amsterdam 🙂
Our GPS directed us to a marina that was not ours. We had an unfortunate encounter with the most obnoxious, old, cigar smoking, rough looking, dramatic and grumpiest man ever. After a long car ride, I may be exaggerating slightly but he was not the Amsterdam welcome we were expecting.
He was over the top rude, unhelpful and all we were trying to do was figure out where we were and how to get to our boat. You know what, our boat was right across from his side of the Marina. We could throw rocks at him we were so close…I almost wanted to turn around and leave Amsterdam then. First impression was not a happy one.
It all turned around when we figured out our way to the boat. It was the best!!. It was tiny, but had everything we would need for the couple nights we would be staying. Everything except a hot shower. We needed to use the main one up the dock, actually and toilet too.
We settled in and decided this boat life was pretty neat. It was comfy, didn’t rock too much and had a fun upper deck for the kids to relax on.
