Blarney Stone! – July 24th 2017
We couldn’t come all the way to Ireland and not visit the Blarney Stone! I’m not entirely sure why it was a place I insisted on taking the family, but for a while now, the thought of the Blarney Stone has really intrigued me.
The areas surrounding the castle are so beautiful. There were so many little gardens to explore and walk through. A play area for the kids, a small cafe where of course we had to get some ice cream!!
We entered the castle at just the perfect time. Busy-O’clock. haha. Although the line was just out the front door (I’m not sure castles had front doors as we do today, maybe we’ll call it the main door), the line moved along nicely and the time went by quickly. This was probably because there was so much to see. Every turn in the stairs had a little space for the kids to explore. Soon enough we were right at the top of the castle where the famous stone resides.
Our turn came quickly as they are a very well oiled machine there. The gentleman that helped hold us up, gave clear and swift instructions but still was able to laugh and joke with us so the experience was personal.
So, we layed down on our backs, arms up and were slid to the wall were we kissed the stone!!! Lucas did so well, but opted to not kiss the stone and instead have a photo taken in front of it.
It was all over in a minute or two. With that one kiss, legend has it we have now been bestowed the gift of eloquence!!—-disclaimer * I had to look up the definition of eloquence. haha.
DEFINITION: Fluent or persuasive speaking or writing.
‘a preacher of great power and eloquence’
In other words, we now should all have the gift of gab!
With a check on my bucket list, we were done at the amazing Blarney Stone Castle and Gardens.
Country life was a thing of the past as we prepped for a little city excitement!
