London – August 6th 2017

Adventure day in London!

We booked tickets to the London Eye.

We took the tube in to the city, got there a bit early to figure things out. Realized that even with online tickets we still needed to line up (or queue as they say here and I’m all fancy like the English now 😉 ) for 30 mins. Good to know and so we checked the time and went for a walk along the Jubilee Bridge. It gave us great views of the city and waterfront and was a nice walk. By the time we made it back around to the London Eye we were all good to queue.

Our turn was up and on we went. My kind of ride/attraction. Slow moving, great views and totally contained with no rocking!! We were treated to a great day with sun and blue sky and the view was nothing short of amazing. You could see over the whole city.

Lunch was next and we ended up getting McDonalds for convenience as it was close. The busiest McDonalds ever. I mean EVER. The mass crowds that were trying to order blew my mind. There were no lines, just ‘get to the front’ attitudes. Which we went with and finally got to the front of the line and ordered.

With everyone fed (eventually), we walked to Buckingham Palace through St. James Park.

Unfortunately the Queen wasn’t there, or at least she never came out to say HI, she was probably inside playing on her phone or having tea with important people. Regardless of no royals being spotted, we had a nice time exploring and taking a few pictures. The palace grounds are actually very pretty. There were flowers, it was clean and tidy and the gates were actually very beautiful with all the gold and decor.

We said goodbye to Buckingham Palace and walked through Green Park to the tube and home…..actually we still had one more stop. We took the tube to the Emirates Air Line cable car.. A short gondola ride over the Thames river and we were spent. 9 hours of adventuring had passed quickly in the city. I think I got about 30 different shots of Big Ben. Too bad the old boy is having some work done and scaffolding is all over the place.
