Paris – August 15th & 16th 2017

With all the adventures we’d been having it was time for a day off. A sleep in, late breakfast, movies in the afternoon, PJ day. We took full advantage of this time and relaxed allllll day.

The next day was a splurge day. Disney Paris. But how could you come all the way and not go!

We bought tickets before we even told the kids. Holding off from telling the kids until just a few days before for dramatic effect…nah, it was so if they were misbehaving we wouldn’t have to threaten to take it away and obviously not follow through ;| .

We woke up early, caught the metro to the train and hopped on….and quickly got off seconds before they closed the doors. Wrong train. Woops!!

Redo, we got on the right train and soon we were entering the gates!!

Disney Paris right from the beginning was very different. The gates, with security and ticket were all disorganized and honestly we could have not bought tickets and walked right in almost. Main street met us first. A smaller version of Disneyland but looked very similar. This was going to be good!!

We checked the map, checked the fast passes and had our plan of attack. The park was not as crowded as other Disneys which was promising, but lines were just as long, perhaps even longer than I remember.

Thunder Mountain Railway was a blast. The hour wait was totally worth it and we all loved it, except Lucas who though it a little extreme. I was brought to tears on this ride, true story, Mark has it on tape.

Space Mountain was good, other rides were the same and different too. Pirates of the Caribbean was…dunno. Long line, broken down ride and on and off openings and finally skip the line tickets had me waiting outside with Lucas while the others went in. They said it was scary and it was best we stayed outside anyway. As Lucas and I waited we people watched.

The end of the evening had us a little tired and hungry and Disney Paris seems to close everything very early so unfortunately for us we spent too much time in line ups and less time on rides.

To end the night we walked out the park while watching a bit of the light show and fireworks. One of the kids (who shall remain nameless) was very, VERY upset we didn’t stay for the whole thing but because we had to catch the train and metro back we had a tight schedule. Otherwise we would get stranded when the metro stopped running and an expensive taxi ride would be in our near future.

All in all we had a good time. It was not the same and that was hard in a way to accept when our expectations were so high. It was a full day and we burned off some steam.
