Andorra – September 15th
We made a special trip all the way to Andorra for one sole thing: A mountain Coaster. Since not being able to try the Swiss coaster at Glacier 3000 because of white out conditions, we made the trip to Andorra.
Lets back up a bit and explain where Andorra is. I had no clue before. Didn’t even know this country existed. It’s one heck of a tiny country between France and Spain. High in the mountains where the only way in is ear popping twisty roads.
So, we found a mountain coaster in Andorra, it was about 3 hours out of our way and we were going to make it work! The whole city (and surrounding areas) are built between mountains and on hills. There is not much flat land. It was very much a mountain/ski community and super cute! It reminded us of Whistler back home in Canada.
We arrived and checked in, settled in for the night as the next day we had our tickets to Naturlandia!
We woke up to rain and were socked in pretty bad with the fog. We still got geared up in our rain coats and long pants and were determined to get on a coaster today.
Arriving to Naturlandia was a little erie. It was quiet. 2 cars in the lot maybe. We started to walk into the park and no one was around. It seemed closed down. Now, it was wet out but by then the rain was a fine mist. The ticket booths outside were unmanned and no other rides were running. We made our way to the offices where there were a good amount of employees around. They informed us the park was closed due to weather. What a bummer!!!! Tears began to well in Avery’s eyes for the second time. No way we could have bad luck twice!!! Unfortunately we had a flight to Morocco the next day so this was are only chance in Andorra.
We had purchased our tickets online and the front desk would not refund our money there but told us that by contacting Reservations we could get our money back. I mean, THEY closed the park on us. It was a no brainer that we would get our money back.
The drive home was quiet and we had a very sad little girl. The Mountain Coaster evaded us again. We tried to salvage the day with a treat by eating out at the Hard Rock Cafe. I think it worked!
Fast forward a bit: Naturlandia refused to reply to our emails regarding a refund for our tickets upon them closing the park and not allowing entrance to us. Great Job Naturlandia, way to try and steal our money like that (that was sarcasm :)). Visa agreed to reverse the charges but Naturlandia still tried to dispute it. Hopefully it will be over soon but for now the saga continues….
Andorra was cute and charming and cold and rainy and expensive but so glad we stopped into the little country.
